Product description: 1-7 CE1 is a clonal derivative of the human mammary luminal epithelial cell line MTSV1-7. MTSV1-7 is transfected with erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ERBB2) expression vector, enabling the over-expression of ERBB2 proto-oncogene. At confluence, the morphology is cuboidal. The ERBB2 (or Her2) oncogene is amplified and/or overexpressed in a significant proportion of breast cancers. The over-expression of the ERBB2 receptor inhibits morphogenesis in vitro, and induces reduced expression of surface adhesion molecules such as E-cadherin, suggesting a role for ERBB2 over-expression in tumour progression and metastasis. The 1-7 CE1 cell line is an ideal in vitro tool for investigation of the role of the ERBB2 proto-oncogene in breast cancer morphogenesis and adhesion.
