- Name: Melb-m5 cell line
- Organism: Mouse
- Tissue: Skin
- Morphology: Small, oval-fusiform
- Model: Immortalised non-cancerous cell lines
- Description: The melb-m5 line is an immortal melanoblast cell line irreversibly differentiated from immortal murine neural crest-like stem cells which were derived from Dock7m/Dock7m C57BL6/J mice. This melanoblast line may be useful for developmental studies and, as melanoblasts display mechanisms similar to tumour cells (migration to and invasion of the epidermis) they may be a useful tool in studies of melanoma development.
- Application: Melanocyte cell biology
Applications
- Application: Melanocyte cell biology
Handling
- Growth medium: RPMI + FBS (10%) + fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) (40 pM) + mouse stem cell factor (mSCF) (20 ng/ml)
- Storage conditions: liquid N2
