  • Name: Melb-m5 cell line
  • Organism: Mouse
  • Tissue: Skin
  • Disease: Non-cancer
  • Morphology: Small, oval-fusiform
  • Model: Immortalised non-cancerous cell lines
  • Description: The melb-m5 line is an immortal melanoblast cell line irreversibly differentiated from immortal murine neural crest-like stem cells which were derived from Dock7m/Dock7m C57BL6/J mice. This melanoblast line may be useful for developmental studies and, as melanoblasts display mechanisms similar to tumour cells (migration to and invasion of the epidermis) they may be a useful tool in studies of melanoma development.
  • Application: Melanocyte cell biology

Applications

  • Application: Melanocyte cell biology

Handling

  • Growth medium: RPMI + FBS (10%) + fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) (40 pM) + mouse stem cell factor (mSCF) (20 ng/ml)
  • Storage conditions: liquid N2
