1.2B4 cell line

The cell line has applications in the study of pancreatic cell biology. 1.2B4 cells provide a method of producing pure insulin secreting cells when stimulated. This is an alternative to the use of primary tissue in cell transplantation therapies for type 1 diabetes.

Initial handling information: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4 x 104 cells/cm� using 0.05% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Population doubling approx 20hrs. At confluence 105 cells/cm� can be expected.
