- Name: UOL-Hep-Rho0 cell line
- Research fields: Drug development
- Parental cell: HepG2
- Organism: Human
- Tissue: Liver
- Growth properties: Adherent
- Model description: HepG2 Rho0 cell line (devoid of mitochondrial DNA)
- Description: This cell line consists of HepG2 cybrid cell lines negative for cellular mitochondrial DNA, fused with different platelet partners (platelets contain only mitochondrial DNA and no nuclear DNA). Each cybrid cell line has a combination of SNPs in mitochondrial DNA, relevant to a variety of diseases. Cybrid cell line panel has potential use for drug testing
- Additional notes: Parental cell line was purchased from ECACC
Applications
- Application notes: No measurable mitochondrial DNA
Handling
- Growth medium: DMEM/F-12 + GlutaMAXTM supplemented with FBS (10 % v/v), L-glutamine (4?mM), sodium pyruvate (1?mM), HEPES (2?mM) and uridine (500 ?M)
- Subculture routine: Cells are subcultured as required (1:6), via trypsinisation, but media is changed twice weekly
