Erythropoietin is a hormone involved in the regulation of erythrocyte proliferation and differentiation and the maintenance of a physiological level of circulating erythrocyte mass. In addition, EPO is involved in a number of biological processes from ageing to apoptosis to T-cell differentiation. The parental cell line, D1-MSC , is a murine, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell which is able to differentiate into numerous bone-related cell types.
