ICAMs are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily that is characterised by the presence of immunoglobulin-like domains. ICAM-3 is the major ligand for LFA-1 (CD11a/CD18) in the resting state. ICAM-3 may play a key role in initiating immune responses. ICAM 3.1 and ICAM 3.2 can be used to examine LFA-1/ICAM-3 adhesion.
