Cytochrome P450 46A1 belongs to the cytochrome P450 family which are a group of monooxygenases. Cytochrome P450 46A1 is involved in the turnover of cholesterol converting it into 24S-hydroxycholesterol and, to a lesser extent, 25-hydroxycholesterol. This protein is expressed in the brain and mRNA has been found to be broadly distributed with higher levels in […]

| Product description: | Cytochrome P450 46A1 belongs to the cytochrome P450 family which are a group of monooxygenases. Cytochrome P450 46A1 is involved in the turnover of cholesterol converting it into 24S-hydroxycholesterol and, to a lesser extent, 25-hydroxycholesterol. This protein is expressed in the brain and mRNA has been found to be broadly distributed with higher levels in the gray matter zones and lower levels in white matter areas. It is not detected in fetal brain but its expression increases linearly with age. It localises to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and the microsome membrane. The unprocessed precursor is 500 amino acids long and has a predicted molecular weight of 56.8KD. |
