Product description: PEA2 is a patient-derived human ovarian adenocarcinoma cell line established from malignant ascites after acquisition of resistance to platinum-based chemotherapy. Derived from the same patient as PEA1, it provides a matched platinum-resistant counterpart for studies of drug response, acquired chemotherapy resistance and treatment-associated tumour evolution. Used alongside PEA1, PEA2 supports comparative analysis of platinum-sensitive and platinum-resistant ovarian cancer cell line states.

Additional notes: PEA2 is one of nine cell lines from the PE ovarian adenocarcinoma panel, which was derived from four patients at different stages of ovarian cancer, from various malignant sites and at various treatment stages. The wider panel has been used as a model system for research into mechanisms of oestrogen action in ovarian adenocarcinoma tumour cells and for studies of oestrogen agonist/antagonist efficacy and toxicity. PEA2 was collected on relapse after cisplatin and prednimustine treatment and has been reported to show poor growth in semi-solid medium, including agar.

Growth medium: RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 2mM Sodium Pyruvate + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture routine: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10 seeding at 2- 3 x 10^4 cells/cm² using 0.05% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO₂; 37°C. Doubling time is approximately 66 hours.
