Product description: The TR146 cell line, derived from a squamous cell carcinoma of the buccal mucosa, is an established in vitro model of human oral epithelium and epithelial barriers such as the blood-saliva barrier. Because tumour-derived lines can be heterogeneous, barrier integrity can vary between cultures. TR146 sc1E3 is a single-cell-derived subclone generated to address this. In transwell assays at an air-liquid interface, TR146 sc1E3 formed a tighter epithelial barrier than the parental TR146 line, reaching a peak transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) of 625.63 ± 93.68 Ω·cm² compared with 137.2 ± 27.24 Ω·cm² for the parental line (mean ± SD, n=3). This was accompanied by reduced transport of 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein across the epithelial layer, consistent with lower paracellular permeability.
