| Target background: | The anti-Cyclin A2, clone E67.1, recognizes a protein of 54kDa, which is identified as cyclin A. Its epitope is located on amino acids 144-148 of human Cyclin A2. Cyclins bind to and regulate the activity of the Cyclin Dependent Protein Kinases (CDKs), controlling transition at various specific phases of the cell cycle. Cyclin A is involved in the regulation of the cell cycle and is essential for progression through the S-phase. Cyclin A protein is absent in cells prior to S-phase, during which its levels increase and peak. Cyclin A is a marker for actively proliferating cells and for cells in S-phase, with passage through to the G2 phase. E67.1 is one of the only antibodies capable of immunoprecipitating active CDK/Cyclin A H1 kinase from such a wide range of species. This antibody binds to an epitope within amino acids 144-148 of human Cyclin A2, mapped out by phage selection. |
