Product description: PEO14 is a patient-derived human serous ovarian cancer cell line established from malignant ascites and included in the PE ovarian adenocarcinoma panel. It forms a patient-matched pair with PEO23, that was derived from the same patient at a later, platinum-resistant relapse stage. PEO14 can be used as the earlier comparator in studies of drug response, resistance-associated change and inter-model heterogeneity, while complementing the broader PEO-prefixed ovarian cancer models available from CancerTools.

Additional notes: PEO14 is one of nine cell lines from the PE ovarian adenocarcinoma panel, which was derived from four patients at different stages of ovarian cancer, from various malignant sites and at various treatment stages. The wider panel has been used as a model system for research into mechanisms of oestrogen action in ovarian adenocarcinoma tumour cells and for studies of oestrogen agonist/antagonist efficacy and toxicity. PEO14 was collected prior to treatment and has been reported to show poor growth in semi-solid medium, including agar.

Growth medium: RPMI-1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 2mM Sodium Pyruvate + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum.
Subculture routine: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10 seeding at 2- 3 x 10^4 cells/cm² using 0.05% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO₂; 37°C. Doubling time approximately 108 hours.
