Serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins are a family of apolipoproteins associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. SAA is a highly conserved, acute-phase protein (APP) synthesized predominantly by the liver. Different isoforms of SAA are expressed constitutively (constitutive SAAs, SAA4, 5) at different levels or in response to inflammatory stimuli (acute phase SAAs, SAA1-3). SAA […]

| Product description: | Serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins are a family of apolipoproteins associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. SAA proteins also exhibit significant immunological activity by, for example, inducing the synthesis of several cytokines and by being chemotactic for neutrophils and mast cells. SAAs are reported as a potential target in the treatment of diseases associated with inflammation. In salmon, SAA-5 has been indicated as a main acute phase response (APR) protein post 24 h in which SAA-5 is significantly induced in liver. This is a significant health marker. |
