| Product description: | Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a major cause of lower respiratory tract illness and is the chief cause of hospitalization for respiratory tract illness in young children. There are two RS virus subgroups, A and B. The A and B subgroups circulate concurrently with subgroup A usually dominating. This antibody is useful for the diagnosis of RS virus subgroup A and B infections, since the nucleoprotein is very abundant within infected cells, which makes virus detection assays highly sensitive. The nucleoprotein is located in the nucleocapsid of the virion; it is abundant and forms a tight complex with virus genomic RNA. Anti-Nucleoprotein VP41 [RSV 4-18] reacts with both human RS virus Subgroups A and B. |
