Target Details
- Target: Integrin alpha E/?7 (CD103)
- Target background: Integrins are heterodimeric cell surface receptors composed of alpha and beta subunits, which mediate cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix attachments. Aberrant integrin expression has been found in many epithelial tumours. Changes in integrin expression have been shown to be important for the growth and early metastatic capacity of melanoma cells. Integrin alpha E/beta7 (aE/b7) is a heterodimer comprising a 150kDa alpha E chain and a 120kDa beta 7 chain. The expression of Integrin aE/b7 defines a developmentally important subset of T cells, namely mucosal T cells including all intraepithelial lymphocytes and ~20% of lamina propria T cells. Integrin aE/b7 is also a selective marker for intestinal intra-epithelial T-cells.
