- Name: Melb-p4 cell line
- Organism: Mouse
- Tissue: Skin
- Morphology: Small, oval-fusiform
- Model: Immortalised non-cancerous cell lines
- Description: The melb-p3 and melb-4 lines are immortal melanoblast cell lines derived from Oca2p-cp/Oca2p-25H CH3 mice. These melanoblasts can grow in melanocyte growth medium without differentiating to melanocytes. This melanoblast line may be useful for developmental studies and, as melanoblasts display mechanisms similar to tumour cells (migration to and invasion of the epidermis) they may be a useful tool in studies of melanoma development. Melanocyte lines (melan-p1 and melan-p2) derived from Oca2p-cp/Oca2p-25H CH3 mice are also available from Cancer Tools.
